Part 28:

Family Reunion Survey

Now that your family reunion is over, it is time to solicit feedback from your relatives. You should already have a pretty good idea of which activities were enjoyed the most and which didn’t go over quite as well. Nonetheless, you should directly ask your relatives for their input so you can use their ideas and feedback to help you with planning the next reunion (you do plan on having another one, right? I promise, it will be easier the second time around!).

The easiest way to solicit feedback would be to ask for your family members’ opinions on your family website. In fact, all you need to do is set up a thread on your forum that asks what they thought about the family reunion and they will likely start to leave all sorts of feedback.

You might also want to create some sort of form to send out to your family members asking for their feedback. To make it easier for you to do a majority vote, you might want to form some multiple choice questions that you can quickly and easily tally up, such as “What was your favorite activity?”

If you do create a form, make sure to also leave a place where your family members can write in their feedback as well. This narrative feedback is what will truly give you an idea of what you should and should not do for next year’s family reunion. You might want to consider allowing the forms to be filled out anonymously if you are worried that your family members won’t be honest if you know where the feedback is coming from.

Of course, there is nothing that says you absolutely must make changes to next year’s family reunion based on the feedback that you receive. After all, it is impossible to please everyone. Nonetheless, your family members will appreciate being asked their opinions and this will give you a good idea as to how you should go about planning for next year.
